The Land of Far Far Away......

jack & will telescope">

I have searched high and low, near and far, to the ends of the earth here on these blogs for someone, anyone that lives near me that either has adopted from Ethiopia or is hoping to adopt from Ethiopia. I truly believe that we are the only family in Tennessee adopting from Ethiopia. And I read many many blogs where the beautiful children get together with other Ethiopia adoptive families and children and I think that is just wonderful. But I wish I could look forward to that for our Annsleigh. I have met many CHI adoptve families in TN, but none from Ethiopia. I dont mean to hurt anyones feelings either, but just wonder if there is any other family out there near us in middle TN adopting from Ethiopia. Am I bad to be asking for this? I just feel lonely and far far away here in Tennessee. Anyone else feel this way? I wish these wonderful "blog friendships" I've made were real in the sense that we could get together with our children when we bring them home. I long for this.

I can relate to you on this one. We feel a bit alone out here in South Dakota too. We have lots of friends who are interested in the process...who knows. Maybe they will be next? I think that the process is so intriguing, and most ppl don't know a lot about it, or ET. Maybe your family will be an instigator?!

I once stumbled across another family in Tenn.. I think that it was from my friends blog..Also.. ask your caseworker becuase if memory serves me right, mine from CHI just recently had a lot of files to got through of families from Tenn... I do hope you are able to connect with others. It is a blessing to have support.. And I do agree with you also, the friendships in the blog world.. It would be nice for everyone to get together! :)

Take care!

Do you belong to our CHI yahoo group? There is one family on there from TN...also I know of a CHI mom from TN in ETH right now bringing home her child...as well,I can think of another family (not CHI) who lives there too. Write an email to your consultant to be forwarded to the CHI ETH families and then they can get back in touch with you.I am trying to start an ETH Cleveland group....so far there are 6 families I know of. Hope you get the answers you're looking for ;)

I am finding more and more from SD, so keep looking... Maybe we can all meet up at the CHI picnic once we have those precious children.

I know how you feel. I think we're the only people within 3,000 miles that are adopting from Ethiopia. Oy. :(

Nice to meet you! And, by the way...Annsleigh is a beautiful name!
(Our daughter's going to be Adia and her sibling's name is to be decided...).

I don't think you are wrong at all for wanting someone close to relate too. It would be great for your daughter to have someone to relate too as well! Anytime you want to travel a little north, we'd love to travel a little south and meet somewhere in the middle?!

Hi -
I just found your blog through my friends who lives in the same town as you. We are moving there in June and have one son adopted from Russia and one from Kaz. I know what you mean about the need to be closer to adoptive families, this is part of the reason why we are moving. I wish you luck in your quest and hey, maybe our paths will cross in Mboro. :)

Have you asked CHI about other families in the area in your situation? Being a new area to adopt from, it will take awhile for everyone to get on the wagon, but it will come. When we adopted G, we were the only family in our group from TN. Not quite the same situation, but I have found that I bond with other adoptive parents, no matter where they adopted from, and our children always bond well also. I am so sorry you are feeling lonely; I can promise you that wonderful things are to come! :)
God will bring the people into your lives that need to be there!
Smile through the pain of the journey; for when you reach your destination, your pain will wash away......kinda like heaven on earth! :)

We traveled with a single mom from TN who adopted a 3-year-old. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I passed along her email to you. Email me if you'd like. Peace.
